This commemorative medal recognises the outstanding bravery of Servicemen and women who have sustained wounds or injury in the line of duty.
Available to all uniformed personnel of both World Wars and former or presently serving uniformed servicemen and women plus those in the uniformed service sector or their next of kin. Also available posthumously to next of kin of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. A poppy on the ribbon will distinguish this medal.
The ribbon comprises a broad central band or red bound on either side by narrow bands of blue representing the arteries and veins in the body. The clinical white outer edges represent the sterile conditions necessary for recovery. The Ex-Services Mental Welfare Society (Combat Stress) is the beneficiary of this project.
